What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world – maximum 100 words

  • Making a difference to me is all about giving back and investing in the future of the profession.  I am blessed to interact with many future CPAs and young professionals through my role as Lecturer at Youngstown State University and involvement with the Ohio Society of CPAs.  Providing encouragement and mentorship to them is pivotal.  They are the future, and providing opportunities for those that will protect and advance our profession is very rewarding.  One example I’m most proud of is jumpstarting a Young CPA group in Youngstown for young professionals to network, gain CPE and volunteer in the community.
  • What websites/magazines do you use to keep up on news of the accounting profession?
    • CPA Practice Advisor
    • Journal of Accountancy
    • Journal of Business & Economics Research
    • Journal of Corporate Accounting & Finance
    • Financial Management
    • CPA Voice (OSCPAs)

What do you see yourself doing professionally in 10 years?

    • I just started this Fall in a doctoral program at the University of Scranton.  I am excited about the new opportunities graduating with my DBA will bring.  My hope is to secure and succeed in a full time, tenure track faculty position at an accredited institution while still remaining active, practicing and consulting in the profession, at SSB.

Favorite books/websites/speakers that you find influential

    • I love listening to books on CD while driving in the car, especially those on leadership and personal development.  It is a great way to use what I otherwise would consider unproductive time.  SUCCESS Magazine is great and I also love to listen to Joel Osteen.  Anything by John Maxwell and Jon Gordon is always worthwhile.
