Outreach:

The Association gives me the unique and amazing opportunity to interact with practitioners around the country from all firm sizes. Giving these CPAs a voice within the walls of the Association is so important to me. Spending time with real-life practitioners and creating a collaborative environment is critical to ensuring the Association delivers solutions that will truly have an impact.

I am also involved with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention after suicide tragically affected our family in the past year. My husband and I are working alongside this organization to raise funds and awareness to hopefully save lives and bring hope to others affected by suicide.

Favorite books/websites/speakers that you find influential:

Picking a favorite book is so hard! I’m addicted to audible these days. My most recent read was Michelle Obama’s Becoming. It’s a fascinating insider’s view of life in the White House. And as a mother of two girls myself, I love hearing from other working mamas on how they successfully integrate work and family.

What do you see yourself doing professionally in 10 years?

The profession is evolving at a staggering pace and I can’t even imagine what it will look like in 10 years! I think all organizations and firms will have to take a new look at their business model and reimagine their goals as the world becomes increasingly digital. My hope is that I can continue to be a voice in the profession and help shape initiatives that will enable practitioners to thrive in the future. I want to continue to be involved in conversations that provide strategies, resources and tools for CPAs.

What accounting conferences do you normally attend?

The Association’s ENGAGE and Women’s Global Leadership Summit are two favorites that I try to attend annually.
