Avalara considers the AvaTax 1099 product as a simple extension of Avalara’s tax compliance ecosystem that will bring automation to the annual 1099 reporting process. Every year, new 1099 reporting requirements are added and multiple regulatory changes occur.
In addition to changes at the federal level, state 1099 reporting is coming under increased focus as states look to shore up revenue shortfalls. These changes and additional reporting responsibilities usually mean additional work for businesses to the already stressful first few months of every year for corporate AP departments.
The AvaTax 1099 product will automate the federally driven annual 1099 print, mail and electronic filing process from a cloud based service – we have removed a very manually intensive process and replaced it with an automated ‘white glove’ solution. We have also surrounded the product with quite a few ancillary services designed to facilitate the process of gathering the correct vendor information – TIN validation tools as well as W9 and B-notice remediation tools.
