CCH, Wolters Kluwer business, recently received the 2012 Illinois Governor’s Sustainability Award for a number of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design approved renovations made to its Chicago facility over the past two years. CCH provides tax, accounting and audit information, software and services to tax and accounting professionals.
CCH made several green improvements which included installing high-efficiency roof and power systems, increasing new landscape areas by more than 21,000 feet and creating Sustainability Committee to monitor and measure its advancements. CCH also produces 98 percent of its books and 100 percent of its journals under the Forest Stewardship Council or the Sustainability Forestry Initiative.
“We’re honored to receive this prestigious award and to be recognized for our efforts in improving the environmental health and sustainability of the state of Illinois,” said Doug Winterrose, Chief Financial Officer for Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting. “By showing the many ways in which CCH approaches sustainability, this award helps drive greater awareness and visibility of these practices, while also increasing the potential for such practices to be embraced and repeated by other businesses.”
The Illinois Sustainable Technology Center, a unit of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois, presented the award. CCH was one of 21 businesses and organizations honored. Illinois Governor Pat Quinn issued a statement applauding CCH for its “commendable green practices” that serve “as a model of environmental stewardship for residents, businesses and institutions throughout our state.”
