Accounting firm announces new director of insurance tax services group
Steven M. Greene, CPA, has joined the Pennsylvania office of accounting, tax and advisory services firm WeiserMazars LLP, where he will serve as Director in its Insurance Tax Services Group. Greene brings more than 25 years of federal and foreign insurance tax experience including property and casualty, life, health, mortgage, financial guaranty and title insurance.

Steven M. Greene, CPA, has joined the Pennsylvania office of accounting, tax and advisory services firm WeiserMazars LLP, where he will serve as Director in its Insurance Tax Services Group. Greene brings more than 25 years of federal and foreign insurance tax experience including property and casualty, life, health, mortgage, financial guaranty and title insurance.
Additionally, Greene is an expert in accounting for income taxes, both inside and outside of the insurance industry. He will further strengthen the firm’s capabilities within the Insurance Tax Services Group.
WeiserMazars’ Insurance Tax Services Group offers clients a range of services including: tax planning and compliance, GAAP, Statutory and IFRS Tax Accounting, co-sourcing and outsourcing arrangements, deferred tax validations, tax controversy, accounting method changes, foreign insurance/reinsurance excise tax, Sarbanes-Oxley compliance, tax basis analyses and due diligence.
Greene joins WeiserMazars from Ernst & Young’s Financial Services Office – Insurance Tax Practice where he was a Senior Manager responsible for reviewing statutory and GAAP income tax provisions of public and non-public clients as part of financial statement audits. He has held senior titles at Philadelphia-based LECG-SMART, and Deloitte Tax LLP, advising major clients on a variety of insurance tax issues including unearned premium reserves, loss reserve discounting, special estimated tax payments (Sec. 847), managing IRS income and excise tax examinations, statutory and GAAP tax accounting issues and deferred tax validation of book to tax basis differences. Earlier in his career, Greene was with Reliance insurance Company and CIGNA Corporation.

Greene, a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania, holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Master of Science in Taxation from Drexel University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
