Dixon Hughes Announces Several New Appointments
Dixon Hughes, accounting and advisory firm, recently named Trey Ackerman as the Office Managing Partner for its Uptown Charlotte office; Bradley Newkirk as the lead Partner over Private Equity Compliance Services and David Ferrell as the lead Partner over Private Equity Tax Services.
LCMS Foundation Selects New Senior VP of Finance and Administration
Mark Cannon, CPA recently joined the staff of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod Foundation as senior vice-president for Finance and Administration. As the LCMS Foundation’s chief financial officer, Cannon will oversee the organization’s financial operations and liaison with external vendors and associates, including legal counsel, auditors, regulatory authorities and investment managers. He will also have responsibility for developing and implementing strategies to increase the number of trusts managed by the Foundation and overseeing human resources, facilities and risk management. He has 15 years of banking expertise and received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Washington University in St. Louis and a Master of Arts degree in Economics from Vanderbilt University.
Smart Devine Names New Managing Director in Their Tax Practice
Smart Devine, the full-service accounting, tax and advisory firm, recently announced Douglas W. Nakajima joined the firm as a Managing Director in their Tax Consulting practice. Nakajima will focus on expanding Smart Devine’s domestic and international tax, restructuring and transaction advisory services. He brings to his new role more than 30 years of experience in the public and private sectors, advising U.S. and foreign clients on a diverse range of tax issues and strategies. Nakajima received his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Juris Doctor and Master of Laws (Taxation) from the Villanova University School of Law.
Glass Jacobson Welcomes New Partner
Glass Jacobson, a Baltimore CPA and wealth management firm, announced the appointment of Brett Newberger, CPA as the company’s newest partner. In his new role, Newberger will help lead the firm’s accounting ventures and lend his expertise to an expanding client base. His experience includes public and private accounting in the manufacturing, distribution, professional services, technology and not-for-profit industries. Newberger received his BA in Accounting from the University of Baltimore.
CJA Hires New Accounting Professional
Cheryl Jefferson & Associates recently hired Gaurav Gupta to join the firm as a Client Advisor/Associate. Gaurav received dual Bachelor of Science degrees in Accounting and in Finance from the University of Maryland, Robert H. Smith School of Business, College Park.
WeiserMazars LLP Names New Director
WeiserMazars LLP, an accounting, tax and advisory services firm, announced the addition of Salvatore A. Collemi, CPA to their Assurance Practice. In his new role as Director of the Technical Resource Group, Collemi will work with clients in the areas of professional standards, risk management and corporate governance. He specializes in U.S. and international auditing and quality control standards, independence and ethics as well as International Financial Reporting Standards and Financial Accounting Standards Board Accounting Standards Codification. Collemi also serves as the IFRS expert at-large on the AICPA Board of Examiners Content Committee and is a board member and chair of the Financial Decision Makers Steering Committee of the Commerce and Industry Association of New Jersey. He is also a member of the Center of Audit Quality Small Firm Task Force and the New York State Society of CPAs Professional Ethics Committee.
