Cherry Bekaert Appoints Tax Partner
Cherry Bekaert LLP, public accounting and consulting firm, recently announced the selection of Leah Keller, CPA as tax partner. In her new role, Keller will focus her practice on the federal and multi-state taxation issues of domestic and foreign-owned middle market, closely held and private equity/venture capital-owned companies in the western part of Virginia and east Tennessee. She will be actively involved with Cherry Bekaert’s Manufacturing & Distribution and Technology & Life Sciences industry groups. Keller received her Bachelor of Arts in Accounting at Grove City College.

Armanino LLP Partners with Continental Stock Transfer & Trust
Armanino LLP, accounting and business consulting firm, announced a strategic partnership with Continental Stock Transfer & Trust. Through the partnership, the two firms will offer comprehensive equity management and stock issuance and shareholder record-keeping services for pre-IPO companies. Armanino’s Equity Management Solutions practice provides technical accounting expertise along with Cloud software implementations and process re-engineering for a wide variety of privately held and public companies. Continental offers a full array of stock transfer services to small and midsize emerging and growth companies.

A.T. LOCKE Adds Members to Its Staff 
A.T. LOCKE recently announced the addition of Sean Kurtz and Ryan LaPierre, CPA to the firm’s staff. A.T. LOCKE provides accounting services, business analysis, and financial and strategic guidance to emerging and midsized organizations. Kurtz’s public accounting experience includes working with a variety of individual and corporate clients across a wide range of industries. He received his BS degree in accounting from Palm Beach Atlantic University. LaPierre’s expertise includes providing accounting, tax, and audit services to individuals and organizations across industries, including automotive, energy, and not-for-profit. He graduated from Bob Jones University with a BS degree in accounting.

Maryland CPA Appointed to Board of Directors of the Latino Economic Development Center 
Councilor, Buchanan & Mitchell, P.C., a Maryland–based full-service CPA and business advisory firm, recently announced that Damaris Mirza, CPA, senior auditor, has been appointed to Board of Directors of the Latino Economic Development Center. Mirza has eight years of public accounting experience in audits and tax. She graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor’s degree in accounting as well as a certificate in international business.

Glass Jacobson Names New Partner 
Glass Jacobson, CPA and wealth management firm, recently named Brett Newberger, CPA as the company’s newest partner. Newberger has more than 20 years of combined experience in public accounting and private industry. He has served as a business consultant with specific niche industries, including manufacturing, distribution, professional services, technology, and not-for-profit. He also has experience in preparing financial statement audits, reviews and compilations, along with corporate and individual tax planning and preparation. Newberger received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Baltimore.
