The winning numbers: 4, 8, 19, 27, 34 – And a Powerball number 10.
[Update] There is reported to be at least three winners, in California, Florida and Tennessee, of the historic, Billion-dollar Powerball drawing.
As Americans waited with baited breath and dreamed of yachts, islands and telling their boss goodbye, the Powerball lottery jackpot grew to more than $1.5 billion … that’s Donald Trump money. Unless taken as a lump sum (apx $930 million) or apx. 39% less after Uncle Sam collects his cut in taxes.
Still, the jackpot is the highest in the history of the planet.
The jackpot has been rising since November, when the jackpot was last won and reset at the base of $40 million. The Powerball lottery is played in 44 states, plus Washington D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
As a disclaimer: The author of this article played $20 (ten numbers), but didn’t win. Damn.
