I began my career with BLS as an intern while completing my degree at the University of Delaware in 2009 and have been with the firm ever since. Today, I am a manager in the firm’s Tax & Small Business Department where I focus on income tax planning and compliance for a variety of clients. I am also a member of the firm’s Estate and Trust Section. To stay abreast of tax law and industry changes, I attend annual conferences held by the National Association of Estate Planners & Council and Heckerling Institute of Estate Planning. I recently joined the board of the Delaware Estate Planning Council. I’ve also presented at local events, such as the Delaware Tax Institute, as well as nationally at the AICPA EDGE conference. But above all, my most memorable moments have been helping clients reach their goals and assisting staff with their careers.
Philanthropy is a high priority of mine. One particular charity that I work closely with is the Wilmington Flower Market. The organization, which consists only of volunteers, holds events to raise money for charities that improve the lives of children in Delaware. I am also the Treasurer for Delaware CarePlan Inc., a nonprofit organization that assists families and guardians in ensuring their family member with special needs can continue to lead a safe and meaningful life through the use of care plans and special needs trusts. Also, I love supporting animal rescue organizations and have adopted two dogs.
Favorite influencer(s) (authors, bloggers, mentors, speakers, etc.)
I am fortunate to have many mentors including family, friends, colleagues, and a former college professor who have all played a big part in my success (thank you!). My favorite speaker is Sam Donaldson, J.D., L.L.M. He has a unique talent of being able to incorporate humor with estate and gift planning topics. His tips are practical, insightful, and come with a good laugh.
