I’ve been a member of Intuit’s Accountant Council for 2 years now, which is a group of accountants and consultants who meet with Intuit’s Accountant Segment to be the voice of accounting professionals and provide input regarding the direction of Intuit’s product development for accountants and their clients. Right now my biggest career highlight is being CXO of Liscio; a startup tech company aimed to change the way accounting firms work with their clients. It’s an amazing opportunity to think outside the box and make a difference in the profession.
When I think about how to make an impact on a larger scale, I start with the people around me. Two of our values inside our company are: “People and relationships matter most” and “We encourage others to be the best versions of themselves”. We take these to heart when we interact with our own team inside our company as well as our customers. We view every interaction as an opportunity to show we care about someone else and we are here to encourage and help others, both personally and professionally. We’ve realized this tends to have a ripple effect that goes far beyond our company.
Favorite influencer(s) (authors, bloggers, mentors, speakers, etc.)
I love reading books that challenge the way I think or help me grow. I also tend to follow authors outside of the accounting profession to keep me thinking creatively and leveraging ideas from other industries that I can apply to the accounting profession. Andy Stanley is an author I tend to read often. He has some great books and articles on being an effective leader. Seth Godin is another one I follow for his writing on marketing, leadership, and creative thinking.
