$449,500 in Scholarships Awarded to 90 Exceptional Minority Accounting Student

The American Institute of CPAs has awarded 90 college accounting students across the United States the AICPA Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students for the 2017-18 academic year as part of the AICPA’s Legacy Scholars program. The students were selected based on their leadership abilities and academic performance.

“The AICPA has a long history of promoting diversity in the accounting profession by providing gifted students with scholarships,” said Joanne Fiore, AICPA vice president of professional media, pathways and inclusion. “The recipients of this year’s Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students represent the diverse talent that is essential for the profession to continue to flourish for years to come.”

The AICPA Scholarship for Minority Accounting Students is one of four distinct scholarships available through the AICPA Legacy Scholars program. The program, which was established in 2011, has presented more than $2 million in scholarships to deserving accounting students since its inception. Each student will receive a one-year scholarship and have the opportunity to perfect their leadership, communication and networking skills through AICPA volunteer service opportunities. Recipients will complete at least eight hours of service each semester by advocating for the accounting profession on campus.
