Ceterus, a done-for-you accounting and benchmarked reporting solution for small businesses, has added a new forecasting feature that allows franchise business owners to project cash inflows, outflows and balances into the future.
Ceterus added the forecasting functionality to assist small business owners, who need to plan ahead but often have trouble projecting cash flow. The Ceterus forecasting tool shows a projected balance for seven or 30 days out, and is based on the net of projected cash inflow and outflow. Franchise owners can access the functionality through the Cash Forecasting tab in the Ceterus Edge Entrepreneur platform. The goal is that the new functionality will helps franchise owners avoid cash flow shortages, optimize working capital, and plan for owner draws or payouts to investors.
“Small business accounting should be something that is used to analyze the future, not just the past,” says Ceterus founder and CEO Levi Morehouse. “Entrepreneurs need to be able to use what’s happened in the past financially to help them run more efficient and profitable businesses.”
Ceterus Edge Entrepreneur provides real-time financials to Ceterus’s accounting customers as well as financial and non-financial peer benchmarks. Business owners can log in at any time to view their profit and loss statement across all their businesses, as well as their balance sheet and financial and non-financial peer benchmarks, which gives them insight into how their business is doing relative to their peers, so they may plan accordingly.
“Our platform is built on a modern technology stack that optimizes data analytics and a mobile first approach. This enables us to provide our customers with accurate and up-to-date financial data and insights that they can use to run their businesses more effectively,” says Ed Murray, Ceterus Chief Technology Officer.
Cash flow forecasting is one of many features Ceterus engineers are working on to empower small business owners. Ceterus is also focusing on mobile app development to give its customers full access to financial insights from any internet-connected device.
