BKD Partner Randy Oberdiek has been appointed to serve on the Financial Accounting Standards Advisory Council (FASAC). The FASAC advises the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) on instrumental matters and daily projects. Members of the council include 35 high-ranking executives who demonstrate expertise and integrity.
Oberdiek said, “I am truly excited about this opportunity for me and for our firm. The council has a critical role in providing feedback to FASB, and I look forward to sharing my perspectives and learning from the valuable insight of my fellow council members during this process.”
According to FASB, the board establishes financial accounting and reporting standards for public and private companies and not-for-profit organizations. Public financial reporting by U.S. corporations must conform to the principles established by FASB, so the council’s role in providing guidance is essential to the integrity of accounting.
Oberdiek serves as BKD’s North Region accounting and auditing director and oversees the practice in the region’s 13 offices in seven states. He is an honors graduate of the University of Missouri, Columbia, with a B.S. degree in accounting. Oberdiek received the silver medal award on the CPA exam, attaining the second-highest score in Missouri.
