The Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) is now accepting scholarship applications for the 2019-20 academic year. More than 30 tuition and textbook scholarships of up to $4,000 each will be awarded.

Applicants must be accounting students who will be enrolled in an Illinois college as a senior or graduate student during the 2019-20 academic year. As an exception, eligible juniors may apply for the Herman J. Neal Scholarship. Successful applicants are students who demonstrate financial need, academic achievement, and plan to sit for the CPA exam. The scholarships are intended to support diverse and deserving future CPAs for all their hard work and success thus far.

Available scholarships include:

  • ICPAS Accounting Tuition and Textbook Scholarships – for seniors or graduate students
  • ICPAS Herman J. Neal Accounting Scholarships – for African-American juniors, seniors or graduate students
  • ICPAS Jovencio P. and Violeta R. Mangahas Accounting Scholarships – for seniors or graduate students
  • ICPAS Women’s Executive Committee Advancing Women in Accounting Scholarships – for female seniors or graduate students

“The impact of this award is incredible, far greater than the dollar amount,” said Sam Carani, a previous ICPAS accounting scholarship recipient. “With the financial support comes the belief and encouragement that I can achieve my goal of becoming a CPA. The application included a few questions about my academics and financial aid, short essays and two letters of recommendation. It was absolutely worth my time to apply.”

The Illinois CPA Society Accounting Scholarship Program is funded by donations to the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois.

The application deadline is April 1, 2019. For more information and to apply online, visit  www.icpas.org/scholarships.
