blumshapiro, the largest regional business advisory firm based in New England, announced today that the blumshapiro Foundation has a new Board of Directors and a new focus that will continue the firm’s tradition of community giving for the year to come.

The newly configured Foundation will provide support for community projects with missions of supporting children and families in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. blumshapiro CEO Joseph Kask now serves as the President of the Foundation, with partners Andrew Lattimer, Mary Kay Curtiss and Michelle Hatch serving as Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary, respectively.
The Foundation initially began in 1996 with a mission that largely focused on supporting internal activities, memorials and local area scholarships. The formalization of the blumshapiro Foundation and its mission includes supporting the greater communities in which blum is located, and in the last three years has already led to more than $280,000 in grants awarded. The Foundation accepts applications from qualified 501c-3 organizations.
“We have always been a community-based firm – it is part of the blum heritage to support organizations and initiatives that matter to the communities in which we live and work. When we decided to expand the Foundation’s focus, we asked our employees the types of organizations they would like to see it support, and the overwhelming response was they favored providing support to families and children in need. It is our pleasure to do what we can to help whenever and wherever possible,” Mr. Kask said. “Part of blum’s new philosophy is rooted in community stewardship, and this is the perfect opportunity to bring the Foundation to the forefront within our local communities.”
