AICPA Honors Gerard Schreiber, Jr., CPA and John F. Dailey, Jr., CPA with Special Recognition Award
Since 1999, the AICPA has bestowed the award upon individuals who have performed or contributed to the success of a particular project or initiative of an outstanding nature.

The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) announced today that it recognized Gerard “Jerry” Schreiber, Jr., CPA, a partner with Schreiber & Schreiber, and John F. “Jack” Dailey, Jr. CPA, a retired partner and consultant for Bowman & Company LLP, with its Special Recognition Award. Schreiber and Dailey received the Award for their influence, commitment and length of service to the CPA profession.
Since 1999, the AICPA has bestowed the award upon individuals who have performed or contributed to the success of a particular project or initiative of an outstanding nature.
Over the course of his career, Schreiber has shared his deep expertise on disaster tax relief with CPAs and state CPA societies affected by major catastrophes. As a resident of Louisiana, Schreiber selflessly contributes his time and knowledge of individual income taxation and disaster relief provisions with CPA colleagues across the United States. Schreiber has appeared on IRS’ Tax Talk Today, the IRS Nationwide Tax Forums, and authored continuing education courses on individual income taxes, IRS practice and procedure, casualty losses, Hurricane Katrina matters, GO Zone Act and Circular 230. In 2018 he received the Arthur J. Dixon Memorial Award, the highest honor bestowed by the accounting profession in taxation.
Dailey is well known for his leadership with the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (NJCPA) New Jersey Law and Ethics course that was created in the wake of the Enron and Worldcom scandals. In addition, Dailey has made significant contributions to the NJCPA Scholarship Fund that supports the course and helps minorities and women enter the CPA profession. Dailey’s professional accomplishments include a term as NJCPA president, vice president, treasurer and a member of its Board of Trustees. He received the NJCPA’s 2009-10 Distinguished Service Award and from 2001-2008 he served the AICPA as a member of its Governing Council.
“Jerry and Jack exemplify the term ‘servant leader’ and we are thankful for their commitment to the profession,” said Barry C. Melancon, CPA, CGMA, president and CEO of AICPA. “When Hurricane Katrina hit Louisiana, Jerry did not hesitate to help his fellow CPAs by sharing news and FAQs from the IRS and working with the AICPA to address catastrophe-related questions. He did this while displaced from his home and office and as he assisted his clients. Jerry’s ongoing passion, expertise and commitment to teaching others has made a significant difference in how CPAs manage disasters.”
Melancon added, “Jack has been instrumental in helping strengthen the diversity and ethical leadership of the CPA profession. Through his involvement in the NJCPA’s Law and Ethics course, Jack has provided financial and other support to the society’s Scholarship Fund, which has helped more than 2,000 New Jersey students over the past 60 years. Jack has also tirelessly contributed as a NJCPA volunteer leader, a member of the AICPA Governing Council and the AICPA Professional Ethics Executive Committee.”
Schreiber received his award at the Society of Louisiana CPAs’ Leadership Conference in New Orleans on June 21, 2019. Dailey’s award was presented to him at the NJCPA’s Annual Convention on June 14, 2019.
