Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance Announces National Award Recipients

The Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) announced the recipients of the 2019 AFWA National Member of the Year and President’s Award during the annual Women Who Count Awards lunch held October 22, 2019 in Orlando, FL.
AFWA National Member of the Year: Sarah Militello Associate Financial Analyst II, Amway, Grand Rapids, MI
Sarah joined AFWA in 2016 and quickly moved into leadership roles in both her Grand Rapids Chapter and the National organization. Membership within her AFWA Chapter doubled during her Chapter Presidency and nearly 65% of local members are young professionals. Her voice for young professionals has extended nationally as a Member of AFWA’s National LEAP Advisory Council. “Sarah’s leadership is evident in both AFWA and her career. We are proud to empower her and encourage her and can’t wait to see what she will do next,” said AFWA National President, Laura Mangan.
AFWA President’s Award: Lori Kelley, CPA Member, Tax Division, Warren Averett, LLC, Destin, FL
Immediate Past National President, Karyn Hartke, CPA, presented the 2019 President’s Award to Lori Kelley, CPA. Lori is a past AFWA National President and a dedicated AFWA volunteer. “Her commitment to AFWA is stellar and her leadership has helped move the organization forward. She supports her team tirelessly and empowers others to become better leaders,” said Hartke.
