Former AICPA Chair Joins Board of FAF

Former American Institute of CPAs chair and current CPA.com board member Tim Christen has been appointed to the board of trustees of the prestigious Financial Accounting Foundation.

Former American Institute of CPAs chair and current CPA.com board member Tim Christen has been appointed to the board of trustees of the prestigious Financial Accounting Foundation.

Christen is chairman of the board of Baker Tilly International and has over 30 years of experience in public accounting. He is the former chairman and CEO of Baker Tilly US, LLP, and served as chairman of the AICPA from 2015-2016. Christen has been honored by Accounting Today as one of the Top 100 most influential people in the profession and by Inside Public Accounting as one of the most admired U.S. managing partners.

The FAF is the parent organization of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB). Christen is one of five new trustee appointees whose terms will run from Jan. 1, 2021, to Dec. 31, 2025.

“Tim will be a great asset to the FAF,” said AICPA President and CEO Barry Melancon, CPA, CGMA. “He’s been a champion of innovation, has great insight into the workings of the profession and understands the critical role that accountants play in our society. We wish him success in this new post.”

Other new appointees to the FAF Board of Trustees include Lynnette Kelly, Richard N. Reisig, Sarah E. Smith, and Robin L. Washington. All appointees’ terms will begin January 1, 2021 and conclude on December 31, 2025. The FAF is the parent organization of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) and the Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB).
