Senior Manger, Moss Adams

Career highlights:

A few years into my career in public accounting, I found a love for working with nonprofit organizations. I started focusing on providing tax, compliance and consulting services for tax exempt organizations more than 10 years ago. I joined Moss Adams’ nonprofit tax practice in 2017, providing services for higher education, healthcare, foundations and nonprofit organizations across the United States. I love the growth mindset of public accounting. I am constantly challenged both professionally and personally. One of the best parts of my job is helping others grow. I enjoy leading professional education internally and on a national level with the AICPA and mentoring and advising those coming up in the industry.  I have been active in our firm’s diversity and inclusion efforts, including being an active member of the women and black business resource groups.

What are you doing to make a difference in the profession, your community, the world?

I started working in the nonprofit space because I wanted to help organizations that make the world a better place. I love being involved with my clients as they discuss their operations and ideas for how to evolve and improve as the world changes. I have personally been involved on the board of several nonprofits, most currently being Girls on the Run Los Angeles – an entity that helps to empower girls through running. Diversity and inclusion are also supremely important to me. Recent world events have highlighted the importance of being an ally to various groups that have historically been marginalized. In public accounting specifically, I have taken the past few months to listen to some of the institutional issues in our industry has and participated in conversations and brainstorms for how to make Moss Adams an anti-racist firm.

Favorite books/websites/podcasts/speakers:

I am obsessed with podcasts…I listen to them on my daily runs. Recently, I’ve been interested in history and leadership (both good and bad) so I’ve listened to Washington Post’s “Presidential” and “Constitutional” podcast. For some balance, “Real Dictators” has been a sobering look at some of the world’s darker history. Some other recent listens have been “California City,” “The Road to 9/11”, “Revisionist History,” “More Perfect” and  “The Michelle Obama’s Podcast” sprinkled in with my  old favorites: “RadioLab”, “This American Life”, “The Daily,” “Serial” and “Invisibalia”. I run a lot, apparently!
