The Texas Society of CPAs recently launched their updated website domain, tx.cpa (formerly tscpa.org), using the new, restricted .cpa internet domain exclusive to the accounting profession. Similar to .gov or .edu, this new domain helps licensed CPA firms, individually licensed CPAs, and state societies deliver enhanced trust, security and authenticity in the digital world.
The new domain is also an extension of the accounting organization’s 2019 rebrand when the official acronym was changed from “TSCPA” to “TXCPA.” This major rebrand helped TXCPA highlight the organizations’ Texas pride while differentiating themselves from the Texas State Board of Public Accountancy and other state societies.

Switching to this new domain enables us to build a high-trust environment for our members, while also providing stronger brand recognition.”
The American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the world’s largest member organization representing the CPA profession, was awarded ownership and management of the .cpa top-level domain in 2019. CPA.com, the AICPA’s business and technology arm, is responsible for marketing and administering the restricted domain in the United States and globally.
Licensed firms may apply for any available .cpa name on a rolling, “first come, first served” basis. Individually licensed CPAs will also be able to apply for their preferred domains starting Jan. 15. More information can be found at domains.cpa.
