The Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB) has posted an investor education video on its August 2020 guidance on convertible instruments.

The video is the latest in a series of FASB investor education videos that explain how recent or upcoming standards may impact a company’s financial reports.

During the video, FASB Member Gary Buesser (a former investor), FASB Senior Investor Liaison Chandy Smith, and FASB Project Manager Lucy Cheng explain how the guidance simplifies the accounting for convertible instruments and improves relevance and comparability of information available to investors.

They also walk viewers through examples that demonstrate how the standard will impact the income statement, earnings-per-share calculations, and other related areas.

The video and other investor-focused educational materials can be found at www.fasb.org/investors.
