The Illinois CPA Society’s (ICPAS) annual premier conference and trade show for accounting and finance professionals promises to have attendees rethinking what it means to be relevant to their clients and companies moving forward. Returning to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. on August 24 and 25, ICPAS SUMMIT21 is set to offer unparalleled in-person and virtual learning opportunities over the course of the two-day gathering.
ICPAS SUMMIT21’s more than 50 sessions will be hosted by more than 60 thought leaders, including keynotes from some of the accounting profession’s most influential people. The event will be available both in-person and virtually.
The opening keynote, “The State of the CPA Profession: Today and Tomorrow,” presented by ICPAS President and CEO Todd Shapiro and ICPAS Board of Directors Chairperson and BKD CPAs & Advisors Partner Thomas B. Murtagh, CPA, MBA, JD, LLM, will highlight the many issues impacting the CPA profession, including challenges with diversity and inclusion, the declining number of new CPAs, upcoming changes to the CPA exam, the impacts of technology and COVID-19, and how CPAs must become the most trusted and strategic business advisors to ensure their relevance.
Other keynotes include: “Transcending Technology: Ensuring Relevance in an Automated World” by technologist Donny C. Shimamoto, CPA.CITP, CGMA, founder and managing director of IntrapriseTechKnowlogies LLC; “Eyeing Our Economy” by Derek Sasveld, CFA, investment strategist with BMO Global Asset Management; and “When Was the Last Time You Told a Really Good Story?” by Chicago Sun-Times CEO Nykia Wright, MBA.
Beyond the keynotes, innovative learning tracks and workshops will cover the areas of accounting, advisory services, auditing, corporate strategy, ethics, human capital, personal development, tax, and technology solutions, and attendees will be able to check out the latest products and services from exhibitors like ABGI, Canopy Tax, DOC.IT, Funkhouser Vegosen Liebman & Dunn Ltd., Intuit, Robert Half, Safe Send, and Sana Benefits.
“We’re excited to offer our premier event, where people can attend either in-person or virtually. We’ve brought together some of the top presenters in the profession to share the relevant and thought-provoking knowledge needed for success today and tomorrow,” Shapiro says. “Accounting and finance professionals are being looked to for strategic advice and insight like never before, and this event is a great opportunity to gain a competitive edge and become better prepared to make the transformation into the most trusted and strategic business advisor.”
