The National Association of Tax Professionals (NATP) is delighted to announce the winners of this year’s state Chapter of the Year program – a two-way tie between Alabama and New York.

Arizona took second place, and New Jersey took third place. Honorable mentions include New Hampshire and Kentucky.

While NATP specializes and serves its members in federal tax issues, the local state chapters provide support, education and programming for NATP members on a state level. NATP members receive free membership to their local state chapter.

The Chapter of the Year program was revamped several years ago to create a competitive program regardless of the size of the chapter. The program focuses member and prospect engagement at events, communication to members and overall membership growth.

“Alabama did a great job with their communications, spreading them out over several delivery methods,” said NATP Chapter Program Manager Cynthia Jackson. “Despite its small size, there was also nearly a 10% growth in membership. New York, like Alabama, reached many of their members through various communications, maxing out their score in that area. New York also had the greatest success with their state webinar education.”

Arizona’s work in membership growth and education contributed to its second-place award. More than 27% of its members were reached with the two webinars it held in 2020. New Jersey took third place by reaching more than 27% of its members through four webinars and achieved 400 followers on its Facebook page.
