BPM LLP, one of the 50 largest public accounting and advisory firms in the country, is celebrating its 35th anniversary in July.

Founded by three colleagues in July of 1986, BPM has since grown into one of the largest California-based accounting and consulting firms, with an increasing presence across the West Coast. A nationally recognized brand with more than 800 talented professionals, the firm serves emerging and mid-cap businesses, as well as high-net-worth individuals, in a broad range of industries.

“Reflecting on the past 35 years, it’s truly remarkable to see how far BPM has come. From our internal culture to our unmatched client service, we have seen our successes and achievements multiply year after year — a tribute to the bedrock ideals upon which BPM was founded,” said BPM CEO Jim Wallace. “We would not have gotten this far without our colleagues’ commitment to client service and our clients’ trust in our process. Without them, this would not be possible, and for that, we are grateful.”

The firm’s tremendous growth and accomplishments have led BPM to be recognized repeatedly as the Firm of Choice for clients and colleagues. In 2021 alone, BPM has been listed among Accounting Today’s Top 10 Firms in the West and recognized as a ClearlyRated 2021 Best of Accounting Award winner for the sixth consecutive year based on its client service excellence. BPM is also ranked among Forbes’ Best Tax and Accounting Firms for 2021, the second year it has been acknowledged as such.

“It’s my pleasure to celebrate this important milestone along with BPM,” said Mark Koziel, President and CEO, Allinial Global, the accounting firm association consisting of more than 200 member firms of which BPM is a part. “From their strong international focus and impressive growth in advisory services to their forward-thinking stance on firm culture and diversity, equity and inclusion, BPM is a firm that truly walks the walk. Their impact on our membership has been significant, and I have no doubt that BPM will be a Firm of Choice for both clients and employees for many more years to come.”

Throughout its history, BPM has embodied a people-centeric, diverse workplace and culture, driven by its brand promise “Because People Matter.” By valuing diversity, fostering leadership opportunities for women and members of underrepresented communities, and implementing a values-driven culture, the firm has established a reputation for its commitment to its employees. Along the way, the firm has landed itself on numerous Best Places to Work lists and is considered a Best CPA Firm for Women by the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance and Wilson-Taylor Associates.

For the last eight years, it has also been included in the Vault Accounting 50, a prestigious list, released annually, of the best accounting firms as reported by thousands of industry professionals. Notably, BPM ranks No. 7 and No. 8 among all U.S. firms for racial and gender diversity, respectively, according to Vault.

The expansion of the firm’s footprint in the past several years, with the addition of both new offices and new teams throughout Southern California and the Pacific Northwest, has accelerated its recognition on the national stage. BPM has also continued to grow its diverse service offerings with an expanding palette of complimentary advisory service offerings, including information technology, cybersecurity, economic consulting, technology solutions and management services as well as specialized, industry-specific teams focused on sectors such as FoodTech, Blockchain and Digital Assets, and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG).

“While this anniversary is in part a reflection on our past, it is also a roadmap for our future,” said Rob Blasi, Chief People Officer. “If there’s one word that describes our firm’s trajectory over the past decade, it’s growth. And we are by no means finished. To continue to power growth, we need talented people. We encourage anyone who is interested in being a part of a fast-growing organization that values people to explore our career opportunities.”
