Withum Introduces CEO-Elect Pat Walsh to Succeed Bill Hagaman

Withum, a national top 25 accounting and advisory firm, announced at the recent State of the Firm meeting that Pat Walsh, Partner and Market Leader for Withum’s National Tax Services Practice, will succeed CEO and Managing Partner Bill Hagaman, after his term ends in 2023.

Under Hagaman’s tenure, Withum grew 6 times in revenue and expanded nationally since January 2010, when he took over the role of Managing Partner. He redefined the Firm’s growth strategy by segmenting the client base into industry verticals to enhance its go-to-market strategy, allowing the firm to branch out into non-traditional advisory services.

Walsh has over 30 years of public accounting experience, specializing in corporate taxation, income tax accounting, international taxation, and tax structuring. A Seton Hall University graduate with an accounting degree, he also attended New York University, Leonard N. Stern School of Business, earning his MBA. Prior to joining Withum, Walsh was a managing member of his own firm, Walsh & Borresen, which joined Withum in March 2014.

Hagaman will continue to lead Withum through the next year, preparing Walsh to step into the role on January 1, 2023.

Ashley Christie is a member of KSM’s Real Estate Services Group. Ashley helps clients identify innovative solutions to maximize tax savings opportunities and thoughtfully plan for the future. Ashley received both a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University.

John Estridge is a member of KSM’s Real Estate Services Group. Serving a wide variety of real estate clients and with a specialized knowledge of planning techniques for partnerships, John works closely with his clients to maximize tax savings opportunities and ensure their compliance. John received a Bachelor of Science degree in finance and a Master of Science degree in accounting from Indiana University.

Andrew Goodman is a member of KSM’s Audit & Assurance Services Group. Andrew helps clients navigate the ever-changing environment of financial reporting and operational controls, helping to ensure they are up to date on best practices and making profitable business decisions. Andrew graduated with distinction from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and finance. He has also earned the prestigious Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional (CCIFP) designation.

Justin Hayes is a member of KSM’s Audit & Assurance Services Group. Justin works with his clients to help ensure accurate financial reporting and advises them on ways to improve their reporting and internal controls to provide maximum performance and efficiency. Justin received both a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting and a Master of Accountancy degree from Ball State University.

Katherine Malarsky is a member of KSM’s Tax Services Group. Katherine’s focus includes analytical research and technical review of tax issues. Additionally, she assists companies and individuals in navigating the complexities of doing business internationally. Katherine received a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting as well as a Master of Business Administration degree from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

Andy Manchir is a member of KSM’s Valuation and ESOP Services Groups. Andy helps clients understand the value of their business and advises them on succession planning options, including ESOP, third-party sales, or family transitions and has extensive experience with feasibility studies for business owners considering an ESOP. Andy graduated with distinction from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science degree in finance.

JP Moore is a member of KSM’s Healthcare Resources and Financial Services Groups. JP works with clients on a holistic level to identify opportunities to minimize tax liabilities by navigating between their business and personal circumstances. He provides federal and multistate tax planning, compliance, and consulting services to businesses, individuals, foundations, trusts, and estates. JP received a Bachelor of Science degree in business with concentrations in accounting and finance as well as a minor in economics from the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.

UHY Advisors Appoints Twelve New Managing Directors, Including Largest Female Class

UHY Advisors, Inc. one of the nation’s leading professional services firms, announced the appointment of twelve new managing directors: Amy Bloom, Jeremy Falendysz, John Gallo, Gina James, Brian Kearns, Jenna Lamb, Crystal Li, Jeanine Marino, Matt Munn, Scott Norris Jeff Solis, and Loni Winkler.

Amy Bloom is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Northeast. She is leader of the tax practice, and has extensive experience providing tax planning and compliance services for business entities. She also advises on state nexus, foreign structuring in the U.S., and tax due diligence for mergers and acquisitions.

Jeremy Falendysz is a managing director of UHY Corporate Finance. With over 18 years of Wall Street and investment banking experience at some of the largest financial institutions in the world, he has completed more than 80 transactions with a total enterprise value of over $65 billion. His leadership has been helpful during the growth of UHY Corporate Finance from a handful of employees to over 20 in the last several years.

John Gallo is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Great Lakes. He is a member of the tax practice with over 20 years of tax planning and compliance experience. He specializes in Internal Revenue Code Section 460 guidance and various construction revenue recognition methods. For the first time this year, the firm was ranked in the top 25 of the “Largest Construction Accounting Firms” by Construction Executive Magazine.

Gina James is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Midwest. After merging in her own practice (EHC Certified Public Accountants, LLC), she leads the client accounting advisory services practice in her locale. James has earned her Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation as a strategist connecting all aspects of business accounting to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of overall operations.

Brian Kearns is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Northeast. As a leader of the national not-for-profit and government practices, he manages significant audit engagements in both spaces and serves as a trusted resource across the practice. He is also well-versed in performing Single Audits under the Uniform Guidance.

Jenna Lamb is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Great Lakes. She specializes in working with middle market companies providing a wide range of services that include attestation, business and strategic planning, financial reporting, and other related services. In addition to her involvement in the national manufacturing practice, she assisted in the establishment of the Great Lakes chapter of the Women Invested in Success and Excellence group (WISE).

Crystal Li is a managing director of UHY Advisors and the leader of the California office. As a leader in the China Group, she has an in-depth understanding of the differences in business operations between China and the U.S. and a strong ability to resolve complex technical accounting issues. Li has been instrumental in the growth of the SPAC support services practice that has emerged in recent years and is responsible for the growth of the California office.

Jeanine Marino is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Northeast. She has over 12 years of experience with the firm, starting as an intern and rising through the ranks to where she is today. Her experience includes performing audits, reviews, compilations, and transaction services for many industries. Earlier this year, Jeanine was recognized as one of the “Top 50 Women in Business” by Long Island Business News and named a “2021 Emerging Leader” by The M&A Advisor.

Matt Munn is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Great Lakes. He is a leader of the retirement plan and employee benefits services group specializing in designing and establishing retirement plans that maximize tax-deferred growth and accumulate wealth. Munn also has extensive experience with multi-state taxation issues, retirement plan compliance, IRS audit resolution and buy-side and sell-side advisory services.

Scott Norris is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Northeast. He has extensive experience in both advisory and audit and assurance capacities. He provides advisory services focusing on technical accounting and financial reporting related to IPOs, SPAC transactions, SEC filings, business combinations, and other complex transactions.  Norris has also performed audits of multinational companies as well as private equity backed entities. 

Jeff Solis is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Great Lakes. He is a member of the audit and assurance practice and leader of the national PEO practice. He specializes in performing financial statement audits and advising his middle market clients on tax, transaction, and operational strategy. Solis is often called upon for thought leadership in the PEO space and is heavily involved in the National Association of Professional Employer Organizations.

Loni Winkler is a managing director of UHY Advisors in the Great Lakes, managing a group of professionals in areas of individual, corporate, and state and local taxation. Her 15 years of experience includes working closely with business owners and high net worth individuals implementing innovative strategies to minimize risk, maximize profits, preserve wealth and reduce taxes. Winkler was recently recognized in the “Women to Watch” by MICPA. 

Lupe Garcia Joins Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors

Whitley Penn Audit Partner, Lupe Garcia, has joined the Fort Bend Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Garcia is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 14 years of experience providing audit services to various governmental entities, including counties, cities, school districts, universities, community colleges and other special-purpose governments.

Garcia is a Member of the Government Finance Officers Association of Texas (GFOA), the GFOA Special Review Committee, American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants’ (TXCPA) Houston Chapter, and the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO).

He received his B.B.A in Finance from the University of Houston and has earned the AICPA’s Advanced Single Audit Certificate.
