CNM LLP, a technical accounting and advisory firm headquartered in Los Angeles, today announced leadership team changes to support its rapidly growing practices and client base. Nathan Matthews, who founded CNM in 2003 and has served as Managing Partner since that time, has been appointed Executive Chair. Nathan will develop the firm’s future partners, focus on its long-term growth and expansion strategy, while also stewarding CNM’s team culture. Sanjay Sheth, a 15-year veteran of the firm, has been named Managing Partner, succeeding Matthews. Both appointments are effective July 1, 2022.

“These leadership changes mark a significant milestone in CNM’s development and growth strategy,” said Mathews. “Sanjay brings outstanding emotional intelligence and people development skills to this role, along with deep relationships that have been strengthened over many years. He will help us build upon our position as the most trusted firm for our professionals and our clients.”

Sheth said, “CNM is defined by long-term relationships which are built through our people-centric approach.  I’m excited and honored to lead our team as we expand our footprint globally. We are in a unique position to capitalize on the growth opportunities ahead, and both Nathan and I couldn’t be more optimistic about our future.”

CNM also announced plans to open its first international office in Asia to better serve its growing client base across the region and to support the strong growth in the U.S.  Beatrice Leong, a CNM Partner and 18-year veteran of the firm, will lead this new office, steering the firm’s first international expansion. The new office will serve as a shared service center to support both client delivery and internal firm processes.

Matthews stated, “Our international clientele has grown significantly over the past several years and we want a local presence to provide our clients with the personalized service and solutions they require. We are pleased to have Beatrice, a long-time member of the CNM leadership team, lead this new office in Malaysia and expand our business there.”

Since its founding in 2003, CNM has grown to more than 150 employees, tripling its growth in the past five years. It works with more than 400 clients, from start-ups and pre-IPO companies to multi-national Fortune 500 firms. The new Asia office follows the firm’s 2019 expansions to San Diego and New York City.

“I’m thrilled for the opportunity to spearhead our expansion efforts in Asia and support our clients there, as demand grows for the type of complex and technical services we provide,” said Leong.

Sheth joined CNM in 2006 and was named a Managing Director in 2013 and Partner in 2016, overseeing the firm’s Internal Audit and Business Transformation groups. Sheth has decades of experience across internal audit, Sarbanes-Oxley, SEC reporting and process improvement practice areas. He has managed multiple IPOs, audit engagements and Sarbanes-Oxley implementations. Sheth also serves as the outsourced head of internal audit for several public companies overseeing their risk management activities. Prior to joining CNM, Sheth worked at Ernst and Young in the Assurance and Advisory Practice. A certified public accountant, certified internal auditor and certified information systems auditor, Sheth holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from the University of Southern California. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Leong has been a partner at CNM since 2015 and leads the firm’s Compliance Risk and Advisory Services practice, offering leadership, methodology and project management expertise for co-sourced internal audits and internal control assignments for a number of clients. Specialized service areas include Sarbanes-Oxley compliance projects, ranging from year-one implementation to full annual SOX compliance efforts. Leong joined CNM in 2004 from PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where she served in the audit practice. She is a licensed certified internal auditor and a fellow in the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. Leong received an advanced diploma in financial accounting from the Tunku Abdul Rahman College in Malaysia.
