A Cheektowaga, NY, man was sentenced last week to five years of probation for embezzling funds from a fitness center in Amherst, Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn said.
Michael F. Ickowski Jr., 36, stole $78,615.58 between Dec. 6, 2022, and June 11, 2023, from the Amherst Fitness Center where he worked as an accountant.
Ickowski committed fraud by depositing cash revenue into his personal bank account, officials said.
On Nov. 21, 2023, he pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree grand larceny and signed a confession of judgment, promising to pay full restitution to the victim.
He was sentenced by State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek.
He has since made full restitution, officials reported.
