How have you personally seen the roles of women evolve in the accounting profession?

When I started speaking, there were very few women on stage. Women have found their voices and are making powerful contributions to the profession as they change the message and take it in new directions. As a result, we are seeing much more attention paid to non-technical challenges that are faced by men and women alike.  We are also seeing women take leadership roles and drive advisory services through Client Accounting and Advisory Service (CAAS) practices in the larger firms. 

What do you anticipate will be the biggest change in the accounting profession in the next 10 years?

The biggest change will be our transition away from compliance (finally) toward more meaningful partnerships with our clients as we truly help them create the life of their dreams.

Gusto.  Changes the game for payroll.

What books have you read recently that you would like to recommend?

Unreasonable Hospitality : The Remarkable Power of Giving People More Than They Expect   – This book has real lessons for my winery clients but also applies to Accounting Firms and how we treat our clients.
