RubinBrown Joins Forces With The Rybar Group

The move expands the top 40 accounting firm's healthcare services offerings, including reimbursement.

Top 40 accounting firm RubinBrown has combined with The Rybar Group, a national healthcare consulting firm based in the Detroit area, effective July 1.

Richard Reid, president and CEO of The Rybar Group, is now a partner at RubinBrown, and nearly 20 Rybar team members have joined the St. Louis-based accounting firm, operating primarily in the Detroit area, but serving clients across the country.

“The Rybar Group is thrilled to be joining forces with RubinBrown,” Reid said in a statement. “We look forward to continuing to provide expertise to our clients and helping them navigate the challenges of the healthcare industry.”

Founded in 1989, Rybar focuses on delivering financial management and reimbursement services to healthcare providers around the country.

The newly combined firm will operate within RubinBrown’s Consulting Services Group, enhancing the firm’s healthcare services offerings. The group will provide extensive healthcare-related services to healthcare systems, hospitals, physicians, and others. RubinBrown’s expanded capabilities will focus on reimbursement, including revenue cycle services, cost reports, coding-related services, physician education, volume decrease adjustment appeals, and serving as an outsourced reimbursement department for hospitals, the firm said.

“Our clients will benefit from our many resources and our diverse experience in health care with the addition of The Rybar Group,” Steven Harris, managing partner of RubinBrown, said in a statement.

Additionally, RubinBrown will collaborate with CPAs and attorneys to deliver comprehensive support to their healthcare clients while navigating complex reimbursement challenges.

“As the healthcare landscape evolves and grows even more complex, we are increasing our expertise in this area to continue to provide our clients with the services of a trusted advisor,” said Tom Zetlmeisl, partner in charge of RubinBrown’s Healthcare Services Group.

This combination comes on the heels of three recent acquisitions in the consulting services space for RubinBrown. The firm combined with KnowledgePath Consulting in March 2023, Himes Consulting Group in July 2022, and Liberty Technology Advisors in August 2021.
