A day after announcing it had acquired Signature Analytics, a San Diego-based outsourced accounting and advisory firm, top 20 accounting firm Citrin Cooperman has gobbled up another firm, this time Owings Mills, MD-based Clearview Group.

Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close this month, weren’t disclosed. Clearview Group will join Citrin Cooperman with 10 partners and more than 150 professionals.

New York City-based Citrin Cooperman said the acquisition strengthens its presence in the Mid-Atlantic region and enhances its capabilities in risk advisory, state and local tax, and purpose-built technology solutions and implementation.

“We could not be happier to add a firm like Clearview Group to the Citrin Cooperman family. Clearview Group’s ability to expand our service offering and offer up-market solutions to our client base will allow us to continue to help our clients focus on what counts,” Citrin Cooperman Advisors CEO Alan Badey said in a statement. “Clearview Group’s focus on a strong culture and technical excellence will fit perfectly with Citrin Cooperman.”

This marks the eighth acquisition private equity-backed Citrin Cooperman has made in 2024. In addition to Clearview Group and Signature Analytics, other firms Citrin Cooperman has acquired include Coleman Huntoon & Brown in Chapel Hill, NC; Mibar in New York City; Keefe McCullough & Co. in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Maier Markey & Justic in White Plains, NY; S&G LLP in Worchester, MA; and Teplitzky & Co. in Woodbridge, CT.

Founded in 2011, Clearview Group is a management consulting and CPA firm offering services that are flexible and scalable to meet the specific needs of its clients of all sizes and industries.

“We are thrilled to be joining Citrin Cooperman,” said Clearview Group CEO Brian Davis. “With Citrin Cooperman’s expansive geographical presence and impressive suite of world-class professional services and industry insights, this transaction enables us to expand the reach of our industry-leading risk and enterprise solutions to continue to provide clear solutions to the complex problems large corporations are facing in today’s ever-evolving market conditions.”

After receiving a private equity infusion from New Mountain Capital in 2022, Citrin Cooperman began operating in an alternative practice structure. As part of the deal with Clearview Group, Citrin Cooperman Advisors will acquire the non-attest assets of Clearview Group Inc., while Citrin Cooperman & Co. LLP will acquire the attest assets of BD & Co. Inc., Clearview’s licensed CPA firm.
