Top 50 accounting firm BerryDunn has merged with Connecticut-based accounting, tax, and advisory firm Burzenski & Co., effective Dec. 1.
According to the deal, Burzenski & Co. will assume the BerryDunn name and continue to operate from its office in East Haven, CT.
Established in 1983, Burzenski is well-known for its work with veterinary practices and the construction industry. The merger will enable BerryDunn to expand into the veterinary practice market and add to its existing construction practice, the firm said in a media release. The merger also enables BerryDunn’s Outsourced Accounting Practice Group to provide more services to clients, including reporting, benchmarking, and business consulting.
“The merger with Burzenski aligns with our commitment to strategic growth and a people-first philosophy,” Renee Bishop, BerryDunn’s COO of assurance, tax, and advisory services, said in a statement. “Their niche focus complements our service delivery model, and we are confident this merger will allow us to grow together to provide even more innovative solutions for our clients. Our investment in people, technology, and learning was important to the leaders of Burzenski, ensuring that their team has ongoing opportunities for growth and development. We’re confident our clients will benefit from the combined expertise and unique strengths of both organizations.”
“Over the past three years, we’ve seen our outsourced accounting services grow more than 175%,” added Kathy Parker, principal and practice group leader of the Outsourced Accounting Practice Group at BerryDunn. “The merger with Burzenski is a natural next step in expanding our team of talented accounting professionals and providing high-touch, high-tech back-office services to companies of all sizes.”
Bill Kalinowski, Burzenski & Co.’s managing partner and a 30-year veteran of the firm, said his team will benefit from the expanded resources and leadership of BerryDunn.
“We are thrilled about this partnership, as it aligns with our shared dedication to client success and enhances our ability to focus on client outcomes. It is exciting to find a firm that is equally committed to client success and to bringing a fresh perspective to each engagement.” said Kalinowski, who is now a principal in the Commercial Practice Group at BerryDunn.
Founded in 1974, Portland, ME-based BerryDunn provides assurance, tax, and consulting services to businesses, nonprofits, and government agencies throughout the U.S. and its territories. The firm has offices in Arizona, Connecticut, Hawaii, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Puerto Rico, and West Virginia.
