Cherry Bekaert Acquires DeBlanc, Murphy & Murphy in Maryland

The acquisition aims to strengthen the top 25 firm's position in the greater Washington, D.C. market and expand its service offerings

Top 25 accounting firm Cherry Bekaert has acquired DeBlanc, Murphy & Murphy, a Waldorf, MD-based CPA firm specializing in accounting, tax, and advisory services.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. The combined team will operate under the Cherry Bekaert brand.

As is typical for firms that operate in an alternative practice structure, the transaction consists of two acquisitions: Cherry Bekaert Advisors LLC acquired DeBlanc, Murphy & Murphy’s nonattest assets, while Cherry Bekaert LLP will acquire DeBlanc, Murphy & Murphy’s attest assets.  

This acquisition aims to strengthen Cherry Bekaert’s position in the greater Washington, D.C. market and expand its services offerings, the Raleigh, NC-based firm said in a media release on Dec. 4. It also enhances Cherry Bekaert’s capabilities in audit and tax services and offers DeBlanc, Murphy & Murphy clients access to a broader range of specialized services.

Founded in 1978, DeBlanc, Murphy & Murphy has built a solid reputation in the greater Washington, D.C. area for providing tailored solutions in tax planning, audit, and financial consulting.
