Citrin Cooperman Adds Andsager, Bartlett & Pieroni in Rhode Island

The top 20 accounting firm's acquisition of ABP expands its established presence in Providence, RI, and greater New England.

Top 20 accounting firm Citrin Cooperman has made another acquisition—its ninth in 2024—this time picking up Andsager, Bartlett & Pieroni (ABP), a Providence, RI-based boutique tax firm specializing in high-end tax services for businesses and individuals.

Financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed. ABP joins Citrin Cooperman with three partners and 12 professionals, expanding the New York City-based firm’s established presence in Providence and greater New England.

The deal with ABP is private equity-backed Citrin Cooperman‘s ninth this year. The others include: Clearview Group in Owings Mills, MD; Signature Analytics in San Diego; Coleman Huntoon & Brown in Chapel Hill, NC; Mibar in New York City; Keefe McCullough & Co. in Fort Lauderdale, FL; Maier Markey & Justic in White Plains, NY; S&G LLP in Worchester, MA; and Teplitzky & Co. in Woodbridge, CT.

“Their deep expertise in high-end tax services and their client-centric approach sync perfectly with our values and vision,” Peter Brown, managing partner of Citrin Cooperman’s Providence office, said in a statement. “This acquisition underscores our commitment to expanding our footprint in New England and offering unparalleled service to our clients.”

Founded in 2003, ABP’s expertise in serving high-net-worth individuals, family offices, and closely held businesses aligns with Citrin Cooperman’s mission of providing forward-thinking solutions to help clients achieve their financial goals, the accounting firm says in a media release.

“We are excited to join Citrin Cooperman, a firm that shares our passion for excellence and personalized service,” said Ken Andsager, managing partner of ABP. “This transaction provides tremendous opportunities for our clients and team members, giving us access to additional expertise and resources to address their growing needs.”

After receiving a private equity infusion from New Mountain Capital in 2022, Citrin Cooperman began operating in an alternative practice structure. As part of the deal with ABP, Citrin Cooperman Advisors will acquire the non-attest assets of Andsager, Bartlett & Pieroni, while Citrin Cooperman & Co. LLP will acquire the attest assets of Andsager, Bartlett & Pieroni.

Citrin Cooperman’s entities include more than 450 partners and 2,800 total professionals.
