The Financial Accounting Foundation (FAF) has appointed Autumn Hindman to the Private Company Council (PCC). Hindman’s term will begin January 1, 2025, and conclude on December 31, 2027, when she will be eligible for consideration for reappointment to another three-year term.
Hindman currently serves as the chief financial officer (CFO) for MeatEater, Inc., an outdoor lifestyle company based in Bozeman, Montana. As CFO, Autumn has oversight of the accounting, finance, legal, and human resources functions for the company as well as four owned brands, First Lite, Phelps Game Calls, FHF Gear, and Dave Smith Decoys. Hindman brings to the PCC more than 20 years of progressive experience and expertise in multiple areas including accounting, forecasting, strategic management, and risk mitigation. Previously, she was the CFO and chief operating officer for Skullcandy, based in Park City, Utah. Hindman began her career as a member of the audit staff for Ernst & Young and is a certified public accountant.
“Autumn Hindman brings diverse experience in a variety of financial reporting roles to the PCC,” said Edward C. Bernard, chair of the FAF Board of Trustees. “The Trustees are pleased to welcome Autumn to the PCC and look forward to her contributions to the Council’s group discussions with the FASB.”
FASB Member and PCC Liaison Susan M. Cosper, added “With decades of financial reporting experience in the private company sector, Autumn will bring another set of unique perspectives to the PCC’s discussions. The FASB is pleased to welcome Autumn to the Council, and we look forward to receiving her input during PCC discussions on standard-setting issues that affect our private company stakeholders.”
The PCC advises the FASB on the appropriate accounting treatment for private companies for items under active consideration on the FASB’s agenda. The PCC also advises the FASB on possible alternatives within Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) to address the needs of users of private company financial statements.
The PCC currently consists of 11 members from financial statement user, preparer, academic, and practitioner backgrounds. More information about the PCC can be found on its web page.
