Massachusetts Society of CPAs Offers Accounting Opportunities to High School Students

A total of 36 dedicated MassCPAs members from a variety of backgrounds visited 24 high schools statewide, delivering 30 engaging presentations that highlighted their personal journeys and the multifaceted nature of the accounting field.

In November, the Massachusetts Society of CPAs (MassCPAs), in partnership with the AICPA & CIMA and CPA societies nationwide, proudly hosted Accounting Opportunities Experience Month. This impactful initiative introduced 620 high school students across Massachusetts to the diverse and rewarding career paths available within the CPA profession.

A total of 36 dedicated MassCPAs members from a variety of backgrounds visited 24 high schools statewide, delivering 30 engaging presentations that highlighted their personal journeys and the multifaceted nature of the accounting field. Schools visited included:

  • Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School
  • Burlington High School
  • Cardinal Spellman High School
  • Chicopee Comprehensive High School
  • Chicopee High School
  • Easthampton High School
  • Hamilton Wenham Regional High School
  • King Philip Regional High School
  • Lowell High School
  • Marlborough High School
  • Maynard High School
  • Newton North High School
  • North Reading High School
  • Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational High School
  • Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School
  • Old Rochester High School
  • Oliver Ames High School
  • Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School
  • Quaboag Regional High School
  • Somerville High School
  • Westfield High School
  • Whitman Hanson Regional High School

These interactive sessions provided students with a clear understanding of the educational pathways and skills required to become a CPA while shedding light on the vital role accountants play in today’s business landscape. By addressing misconceptions about the profession, these events aimed to inspire a new generation to consider careers in accounting.
