Brown Plus Welcomes Four New Team Members

Leading accounting and advisory firm,Brown Plus, recently announced the hiring of four new team members:

Michael Corona started with Brown Plus as an intern and is now an Audit Associate. He graduated from York College with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Michael is located at the Brown Plus office in Lancaster, Pennsylvania.

Gilder Lanz joined the Firm as an Outsourced Accounting Associate, specializing in payroll and bookkeeping services. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from the Universidad Catolica Andres Bello in Caracas, Venezuela, and works remotely.

Jodi Marciano joined the Firm as an Outsourced Accounting Associate. She specializes in payroll and bookkeeping services. Jodi is a graduate of Penn State University. She is located at the Brown Plus office in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Ryan Shultz joined Brown Plus as an Audit Associate, specializing in accounting and auditing services for nonprofit clients. He graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance and a minor in Accounting from West Chester University. Ryan is located at the Brown Plus office in Camp Hill, Pennsylvania.

Sikich Announces 2024 James A. Sikich Visionary Scholarship Recipients

Sikich, a global technology-enabled professional services company, recently announced  its 2024 James A. Sikich Visionary Scholarship recipients: Odalys Ochoa and Jonas Capek.

In 2019, Sikich established the James A. Sikich Visionary Scholarship in partnership with the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) to honor the firm’s founder, Jim Sikich. The 2024-2025 academic year scholarship recipients are individuals with a proven determination to pursue a career in accounting and demonstrated leadership qualities:

  • Odalys Ochoa will graduate with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and psychology from Lewis University during the 2024-25 school year. She is drawn to the auditing field and looks forward to the hands-on nature of the work, involving site visits and creating positive relationships with clients. Odalys has balanced working part-time, fully funding her education and serving as vice president of her university’s Accounting Club.
  • Jonas Capek will complete his bachelor’s degree in accounting with a minor in data analytics from Illinois Wesleyan University. Jonas was inspired by his accounting professor in one of his first college classes and has gained experience through multiple accounting internships. He has maintained an impressive GPA while also playing on his school’s varsity football team, co-founding a landscaping business and participating in the Illinois State ROTC.

In addition to the James A. Sikich Visionary Scholarship, Sikich supports the advancement of the next generation of leaders in professional services through the company’s established internship program, Sikich Scholars, as well as supporting the Mary T. Washington Wylie Internship Preparation Program, which helps students and CPA candidates transition into the profession by enhancing their business skills and providing financial aid toward their CPA exam preparation and testing.

Schneider Downs Expands Consulting Management Team

COLUMBUS, OH—Schneider Downs & Co. recently announced that James Rumph has joined the firm’s consulting practice as a Director, helping lead its growing Business Advisory segment.

Mr. Rumph has over 20 years of diverse experience in forensic fraud investigation, business valuation, damages analysis, accounting, audit, and risk management within various organizations. Prior to joining Schneider Downs, he was a corporate officer leading fraud risk governance, risk assessment, monitoring, and other consulting activities at a Fortune 100 insurance and financial services company.

In addition, Mr. Rumph has served as President of the Central Ohio Chapter of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), President of the Central Ohio and Des Moines ACFE Chapters, as co-chair of the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud’s Fraud Risk Management Task Force, and chair of the ACFE Chapter Leaders Committee. 

At Schneider Downs, Mr. Rumph will help lead and expand the firm’s Business Advisory Services within the Columbus, OH market, which consists of Forensic & Litigation Services, Transaction Advisory Services, Valuation Services, and Outsourced Accounting Services. 

Mr. Rumph received his bachelor’s in accounting and business administration from Graceland University, as well as his master’s in accounting with a concentration in forensics, from the Florida Atlantic University. He is also a certified public accountant (CPA), certified fraud examiner (CFE), certified anti-money laundering specialist (CAMS), and certified internal auditor (CIA).

CoreWeave Announces New Chief Accounting Officer

CoreWeave, the AI Hyperscaler™, recently announced the appointment of Jeff Baker as Chief Accounting Officer. Baker brings more than 20 years of experience in various finance and accounting leadership roles, most recently as the Chief Accounting Officer at Rivian. 

Baker is an accomplished executive with deep finance and accounting experience. In May 2021, Jeff joined Rivian as its Chief Accounting Officer and had an instrumental role in the company’s initial public offering, as well as building accounting processes necessary to support Rivian’s rapid growth. From 2014 to 2021, Jeff held senior roles at the Clorox Company, overseeing the accounting, tax, financial integration, shared services and Sarbanes Oxley organizations. Jeff also held finance and accounting roles at various other multinational publicly traded companies, and began his career at Deloitte. 

In his new role, Baker will oversee all aspects of the company’s accounting functions, including financial reporting, compliance, tax strategy, and internal controls. He will report directly to CFO, Nitin Agrawal, and work closely with the executive team to drive financial efficiency and ensure robust financial stewardship.
