Armanino Names Amazon Veteran as General Counsel
Armanino LLP recently announced the appointment of Amazon veteran Chris Carlberg as the first General Counsel in the firm’s history. Carlberg will be responsible for overseeing all legal work for the firm and advising on business policy and overall governance.

In his most recent role as Senior Corporate Counsel at Amazon.com, Carlberg he led a team that supported product development and operations of the company’s cloud computing business, and helped implement that division’s worldwide professional services arm. Prior to Amazon.com, Chris was an attorney for Perkins Coie LLP, where he represented clients in a variety of business transactions including technology licenses, commercial partnerships, joint ventures and mergers and acquisitions. Carlberg received his J.D. and M.B.A. from Boston College, and a bachelor’s degree in business administration and history from the University of Washington.

Scott and Company Names New Senior Auditor
Scott and Company LLC recently named Robert Visbisky, CPA as a Senior Auditor on its Assurance and Advisory services team. Visbisky has more than 20 years of experience in industry, public accounting and state and local government finance and accounting. His previous positions include working as an auditor with the State of South Carolina and as CFO and Finance Director with Barnwell County government. He has also worked with several regional public accounting firms. Visbisky received his B.S. degree in Accounting from Albright College.

Armanino Named 2014 Intacct VAR Partner of the Year
Armanino LLP recently announced that it has been named Intacct VAR Partner of the Year for the second consecutive year. The award recognizes Armanino for excellence in customer satisfaction, implementation and cloud evangelism.

REDW Promotes Staff
REDW LLC recently promoted the following staff members in its Phoenix and Albuquerque offices: Jose Escalante, Myrond Muskett and Jesse Jiron to Senior Accountant in the Firm’s Audit & Consulting Department; Elena Chavez to Benefits Coordinator in the Benefits & HR Consulting Department; Paul Madrid, CFA, CFP to Senior Investment Manager for REDW Stanley Financial Advisors, LLC; and Daniel Yu, CFA to Senior Investment Advisor for REDW Stanley Financial Advisors, LLC.

Ernst & Young LLP’s National Tax Adds New Partner
Ernst & Young LLP recently added Scott Mackay, CPA as a partner in the National Tax Department in Washington, DC, where he will focus on capitalization and revenue recognition. Mackay’s previous experience includes reviewing final tangible property regulations and industry-specific capitalization safe harbors and other depreciation and accounting methods guidance, as well as quality assurance for federal tax accounting methods and periods. Mackay received a Master of Science in Taxation from the University of Miami.

The Wagner Law Group Opens Second Office in Florida
The Wagner Law Group recently opened a second office in Tampa, Florida. The firm currently has offices in Boston, San Francisco and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. Roberta Casper Watson will head the Boston office. Watson graduated from Harvard Law School and her expertise includes ERISA, employee benefits, health and welfare plan issues and Affordable Care Act matters. She will be joined by paralegal, Meaghan Barnett, who has more 20 years of experience working in employee benefits and ERISA law.

Virginia Peabody has also been named Senior Consultant. She has more than 10 years of service with the Wagner Law Group and is responsible for providing a wide range of consulting services for the firm’s clients.

Scheffel Boyle CPAs Announces Several Promotions
Scheffel Boyle CPAs recently announced the following promotions within its firm: Crystal Bock, CPA, Michael Ulrich, CPA, Carrie Seiffert, CPA, Heather Wiesemeyer, CPA Jenna Andres, CPA Julie Graham, CPA, Jenny Zipprich, CPA and John Russell, CPA to Supervisor; and Alicia Bianco, Jason Grunlund, Travis Cook and Jenni Flowers to Semi-Senior.
