I began working as a State Tax Law Editor at Bloomberg BNA in 2011, where I focused on maintaining and updating Bloomberg BNA’s State Tax Portfolios and Navigators. As an editor I worked primarily on sales and use tax analysis, and developed and helped launch a new collection of property tax analysis. In 2013, I was promoted to Assistant Managing Editor and was responsible for maintaining the Sales and Use Tax Navigator and Portfolios, and the newly created Property Tax Navigator. The following year I was promoted to Managing Editor for the same content. At this time, I began working on projects that stretched across all State and Federal Tax content, and began organizing a significant expansion of the sales and use tax content that would be launched in 2016. In 2017, I was promoted to Deputy Editorial Director for State Tax. I now manage all editorial content for the State Tax Group.
I enjoy giving back to the community through participation in Bloomberg BNA’s philanthropy programs. I am an active leader in food drive efforts to restock the shelves at local food pantries that provide nutritious food to local families. Recently, I helped coordinate a PB&J project, where my colleagues and I made over 1,500 sandwiches for a local food pantry. I also participate in resume and interview workshops, where interns receive coaching and mentoring to help them fulfill their aspirations to go to college become business professionals. I am also mentoring a federal reporter under the Bloomberg BNA Exchange Mentoring Program.
Favorite influencer(s) (authors, bloggers, mentors, speakers, etc.)
I have been extremely fortunate to have had guidance and direction from mentors during my time at Bloomberg BNA. They have been instrumental in helping me gain the experience, confidence, and skills that have helped to achieve the leadership role that I have today. In combination, they are a voice that speaks to our responsibility for publishing accurate, actionable content upon which our practitioner users rely, our commitment to serving the community, and our responsibility for developing talent and effectively leading our team members. I am grateful for and inspired by the continued support I receive from leadership and colleagues on a daily basis.
