W-2/1099 Filer from EG Systems is best suited for accounting professionals that handle year-end compliance reporting for multiple clients.

Installed as an on-premise application, W-2/1099 Filer can be installed on desktop and network systems. W-2/1099 Filer offers an easily navigated user interface, that offers easy access to all system functions. There are also numerous data entry options available, including Classic Entry, Tree Entry, which expands system menus in order to display additional options, Quick Entry, which utilizes a spreadsheet format, and Interactive Entry, which displays a mirror image of the form being entered.

W-2/1099 carries forward prior year totals, and the system offers good password protection options to guard against unauthorized system access. The product is designed to use pre-printed forms, but an optional Laser Engine add-on is available that allows users to print forms on blank paper. The product will also print directly to a PDF, or users can choose to create a PDF of the processed forms and email them directly to recipients.

W-2/1099 supports all electronic tax filing and magnetic media filing at no additional cost, and a Bulk TIN matching feature is included in the product as well.

W-2/1099 supports all common year-end compliance forms including W-2, W-2C, W-2G, all 1099 forms including 1099-MISC, 1099-A, 1099-B, 1099-C, 1099 OID, 1099-PATR, 1099-DIV, 1099-INT, 1099-G, all 1098’s including 1098, 1098-E, 1098-T, 1098-C, and other forms such as 940, 941, 943, 5498, 1042-S, 1095-B, and 1095-C. The product supports electronic filing for all federal and state forms, with the product keeping a handy link of all electronic filings for future reference.

Summary reports can be printed in W-2/1099, and the product will also print mailing labels for recipients as well. The product also easily handles corrected or reissued form filings.

W-2/1099 Filer offers an optional QuickBooks Import Facility option, which allows users to import both W-2 and 1099 data from QuickBooks. A Universal Import Facility is also available for those using other third-party accounting applications. Users can also choose to import data using Microsoft Excel or a text file format. W-2/1099 also contains a wizard that guides system users through the import/export process.

W-2/1099 includes a variety of help and support options, including a comprehensive Help system that is included with the product. A variety of tutorials, including an electronic filing tutorial are available in the Help system. Toll-free product support is included in the price of the product, and users can also contact support via email if desired. A remote support option is also available that provides EG Systems support personnel with the ability to access a user’s system and provide support.

W-2/1099 is a good option for both businesses and accounting professionals that handle a high number of year-end compliance forms for their business or their clients. EG Systems offers e downloadable demo to try out prior to purchasing. Users can also purchase and download W-2/1099 Filer directly from the EG Software website. The basic W-2 and 1099 software program runs $109 for the first year, with a renewal fee of $79 yearly. There are also a variety of add-on options available that are designed to increase product functionality, with all add-ons priced separately.
