From the 2019 reviews of W2 and 1099 Systems.

W2 Mate from Real Business Solutions, is a good fit for businesses and accounting firms that need to file a high number of year-end W-2 and 1099 compliance forms. W2 Mate is an on-premise application that can be downloaded directly from the Real Business Solutions website and can be installed on desktop, workstation, and network computers. W2 can be used as a stand-alone application, or combined with other Real Business Solutions year-end compliance modules for increased functionality. W-2 Mate supports an unlimited number of employees and recipients.

W2 Mate supports W2, 1099-MISC, W3, and 1096 forms. Those that require processing of other 1099 forms will need to purchase the Additional 1099 Forms module, which supports 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, 1099-A, 1099-B, 1099-C, 1098 and 1098-T forms.

W2 Mate offers an easily navigated user interface, with colorful icons to the left of the screen offering quick access to all system features. Those preparing returns for a variety of clients can access the company from the menu bar at the top of the screen, which is also where data can be imported or exported, with shortcuts offered to simplify the process. In addition, Bulk TIN matching capability is also offered in W2 Mate, which helps to reduce filing errors.

Repeat users of W2 Mate won’t need to worry about re-entering information, as all prior year information remains completely accessible. W2 Mate is designed to print on pre-printed forms, but an add-on module is available that allows users to print completed forms on blank paper as well.

W2 Mate can certainly be used as a stand-alone application, but offers greater product functionality when used in conjunction with other Real Business Solutions modules, including the Electronic Filing module and the Generate Laser Forms modules. Modules are also available to facilitate data import from third-party applications, and there is an application available that is designed to batch and email a high number of completed forms. In addition, W2 Mate offer easy export of W-2s and 1099 to Microsoft Excel.

W2 Mate offers a free, downloadable trial for those interested, with an FAQ page available as well. Product support is included in the cost of the application, with support available via telephone, fax, email, and chat.

W2 Mate is an affordable W-2 and 1099 processing application, with a variety of add-on modules available.  W2 Mate is currently priced at $39 for the downloadable version, with the CD Rom version running $49. Most W2 Mate purchasers will also opt to purchase additional modules that increase product functionality, including Generate Laser Forms, which runs $25, Network Installation, which runs $125, Import Data from Excel, QuickBooks, and Sage 50, which runs $35, Electronic Filing, which run $110, Additional 1099 Forms, which runs $25, PDF Creation, which runs $30 and the 1099 Emailer, which auto batches high volumes of 1099s and W2s and is currently priced at $135.
