The award-winning Mary T. Washington Wylie Internship Preparation Program is a golden opportunity for racial and ethnic minority college students who want to make their way into the accounting and finance profession.
The Illinois CPA Society is seeking qualified applicants for its next program, being held January 6-8, 2020 in Chicago. The application is available at www.icpas.org/mtww and the deadline is November 11, 2019.
This all-expenses paid program prepares 25 students with key skills needed to obtain and succeed in accounting internships. Highlights from the agenda include motivational keynote remarks, young professional real-world experiences, team building exercises, resume advice, and interview coaching. The following organizations will be presenting sessions and interviewing students for a variety of paid accounting internships: Abbott, Crowe LLP, Deloitte LLP, Ernst & Young LLP, Grant Thornton LLP, KPMG LLP, PwC LLP, and Sikich LLP. Additionally, participants receive a professional headshot and a $500 scholarship to help with educational expenses.
“In only three days, our program scholars learn a great deal about the CPA profession and how to navigate their way from being students to becoming professionals,” said Kari Natale, Senior Director, CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois. “It’s incredibly rewarding to see our participants become more motivated, confident, and better prepared than they ever realized was possible.”
The Internship Preparation Program is funded by donations to the CPA Endowment Fund of Illinois’ Mary T. Washington Wylie Opportunity Fund, which honors Mrs. Washington Wylie’s legacy by offering opportunities that help advance diversity in the accounting profession.
