From the 2019 reviews of W2 and 1099 Systems.

LaserLink from Tenenz is well suited for accounting firms that need to process year end compliance forms for numerous clients. LaserLink is a stand-alone application and is not designed to integrate with any third-party accounting or payroll applications. LaserLink is currently available in two versions; LaserLink, which includes up to 25 e-filings, and LaserLink XL, which supports up to 200 e-filings, with additional e-filings available for purchase on each version. Both versions support an unlimited number of payers and recipients.

LaserLink and LaserLink XL are available on a CD Rom or can be downloaded and installed from the Tenenz.com website. Neither version offers remote or mobile access. LaserLink supports all common year-end compliance forms, including W-2, W-2G, W-2C, 1099(A, B, C, CAP, DIV, G, INT, LTC, MISC, OID, (PATR), Q, R, S, SA), 1096, W-3 & W-3C, 1098, 1098-T, 1098-E, 3921, 3922, (5498), 5498-ESA, (5498-SA), ACA(1094-B, 1094-C, 1095-B, and 1095-C).

Both LaserLink and LaserLinkXL support e-filing of W-2, 1099 MISC, INT, DIV, B, C, R, S, 1098 and 1098-T.  Transmittals, 1096 and W-3, are automatically created when using LaserLink and/or LaserLink XL to efile.

Data entry in LaserLink products is routine, with all data entry screens mirroring the form being processed. Data from prior years can be stored in LaserLink, with users able to roll forward any data from the previous year to eliminate duplicate data entry. LaserLink and LaserLink XL do include a Microsoft Excel template which can be used by firms to import a large amount of data directly into the application. LaserLink and LaserLink XL contain logic to validate W-2 data entered to ensure accuracy.

LaserLink can print both W-2s and 1099s on blank paper as well as pre-printed forms and can be used with either ink jet or laser printers, though Tenenz does recommend using a laser printer. While LaserLink can import data from Microsoft Excel, it does not offer any integration capability with any third-party applications at this time. The product does include reporting capability, with users able to process both payer and recipient reports.

LaserLink offers solid help functionality, with a user manual available within the application that users can print if desired. Step-by step instructions are offered for all new users, and product updates are available on the Tenenz website for users to download. Product support is also available via telephone, chat and helpdesk ticket (email). The product is updated each year and is typically available on CD in October, with the downloadable version available in November.

LaserLink is a good fit for accounting firms that process a large number of year-end compliance forms. LaserLink offers two versions of its product; LaserLink with E-File, which is available for $71.99 and includes up to 25 free e-filings, and LaserLink XL, which is an excellent solution for firms that process a large number of forms for a variety of payers. LaserLink XL runs $229.99, with 200 e-filings available, with additional e-filings available for $1.65 each. In addition, ACA form processing is also available on both LaserLink and LaserLink XL for paper filing to the IRS. Both products can be downloaded from the Tenenz website, or can be purchased as a CD Rom if desired.

2019 Overall Rating: 4.5 Stars
